Over 6,000 participants of the March of Peace pay tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide

SREBRENICA, (Patria) - The column of the March of Peace 2019 with about 6,000 participants set off this morning from Nezuk, and today's stage ends in Liplje where participants are expected to arrive in the afternoon. Around 10 AM, the participants were on the Baljkovica section.

Munir Habibović, president of the Subcommittee for the March of Peace, told the Patria News Agency in a phone statement that all participants are healthy and ready for the March of Peace. Although there was severe bad weather last night, Habibović says the route is passable.

When asked if the participants would pass through the path over Kameničko brdo, where thousands of Srebrenica residents passed in July 1995 and where hundreds were killed, Habibović said it would depend on the weather conditions.

"If there is no rain for these two days, we will go over Kameničko brdo," said Habibović.

The route of the March of Peace passes through the following route: Nezuk - Baljkovica - Parlog - Crni Vrh - Snagovo - Liplje - Jošanica - Donja Kamenica - Bakrači - Glodi - Udrč - Cerska - Kaldrmica - Đugum - Mravinjci - Burnice - Kameničko Brdo - Ravni Buljim - Jaglići - Šušnjari - Budak - Potočari (Memorial Center). The walk lasts for three days, about 30 kilometers per day, over very demanding terrain.

During the walk, participants have the opportunity to attend short history lessons, visit places where mass executions of captured Bosniaks occurred, and places where mass graves were found.

The arrival of the March of Peace participants in Potočari is expected on July 10 in the afternoon.
