Over 20,000 people in Sarajevo bid farewell to the great Halid Bešlić with tears and songs

(Patria) - More than 20,000 people gathered tonight in Titova Street in Sarajevo, at a rally in front of the Eternal Flame symbolically named "With Heart for Halid".

The gathering was organized in honor of Halid Bešlić, a legend of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian and regional music scene.

The capital of our country is bidding farewell to a great man and humanitarian who left us on October 7th at the age of 72, after a short and difficult illness.



Titova Street was too narrow to accommodate all those who wished to say their last "goodbye" to a master interpreter of folk music, as well as a man of immense heart and a great humanitarian, with tears, emotions, and songs.

The gathering in front of the Eternal Flame began with the performance of Halid's favorite song - "Sarajevo, my love", performed by his great friend Kemal Monteno, whom we also bid farewell to 10 years ago.



This was followed by emotional addresses from actor Enis Bešlagić, director Ademir Kenović, actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović, singer Hanka Paldum, accordionist Dragan Stojković Bosanac, singer Jasna Gospić...

Every Halid hit played from the speakers was accompanied by all attendees - and there were over 20,000 of them - singing along, creating a very emotional and nostalgic atmosphere.

In honor of Halid Bešlić, many Sarajevo cafes played only his songs today, so his hits like "Prvi poljubac", "Miljacka", "Romanija"... could be heard on almost every corner.

Sarajevo taxi drivers showed their respect for Bešlić in a special way - they put his photos on their vehicles. And they had already announced that tomorrow they would transport all guests from the region arriving in Sarajevo for his funeral free of charge.
