National Assembly of Republika Srpska without consensus, referendum on Dodik goes to RS Constitutional Court

(Patria) - At today's session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, no agreement was reached on the request of the Bosniak Caucus to initiate a vital national interest protection mechanism regarding the announced referendum and acts adopted by the National Assembly of RS two weeks ago.

As consensus was not reached, the next step is for the Joint Commission of the National Assembly of RS and the National Assembly to declare on the amendments to the Law on Referendum and Civic Initiative and the Decision on Calling a Referendum, and subsequently for the Constitutional Court of RS to do so.

Representatives of Serbs, Croats, and Others voted against the initiative of the Bosniak caucus.

The amendments to the law stipulate that a referendum in RS can be organized by a commission of the National Assembly, or a special ad hoc commission. The decision accompanying the law determines that the referendum will be held on October 25, with the question: 'Do you accept the decisions of the unelected foreigner Christian Schmidt and the verdicts of the unconstitutional Court of BiH against the President of RS, as well as the decision of the Central Election Commission on revoking the mandate of the President of RS Milorad Dodik'.

Let us recall, the National Assembly of RS adopted these acts after the Central Election Commission of BiH revoked Dodik's mandate, and the Court of BiH passed a final verdict prohibiting him from holding public office for the next six years.
