Council of Ministers orders Independent Board to interview candidates

At today's session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, the current situation in police agencies was discussed, where the mandates of management officials have expired. Fahrudin Radončić, Minister of Security of BiH, stated that it was concluded at the session that they, as the Ministry, would send a request to the Independent Board, which is currently operating in a technical mandate, to begin interviews with candidates who applied for six vacant positions.

- We know that the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has also elected a new Independent Board, but for known reasons, it has not been confirmed by the House of Peoples. Therefore, we will instruct the current composition to proceed with conducting interviews - said Radončić.

We remind you that the vacant positions are Director of the Border Police of BiH and his deputy, Director of the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies and two of his deputies, and one deputy director of the Agency for Investigations and Protection of BiH.

At the same session of the Joint Commission for Defense and Security, the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities failed. The Minister of Security of BiH, Fahrudin Radončić, gave his stance on this, stating that at this moment we can expect reactions from Moneyval.

- MPs from RS unfoundedly stated that the Ministry of Security, which is the proposer of this law, wants to usurp something from their jurisdiction. Now I am waiting for a reaction to put us on one of the unfavorable lists for BiH - stated Radončić.
