Council of Ministers of BiH to meet on December 16: Will this session also fail due to the chief negotiator and two laws?

(Patria) - The next session of the Council of Ministers of BiH is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, and the proposed agenda includes as many as 62 items.

The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, has again put forward three items on which there is no agreement among coalition partners: the Proposal for a Decision on the Establishment of the Office of the Chief Negotiator of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union as a temporary body of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (2nd round of voting), the Draft Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

SNSD blocked the agenda at the previous two sessions, and the Council of Ministers of BiH held two emergency sessions to adopt some decisions that could not wait for the next session.

The agenda also includes several other important items related to the appointment of the Committee for Appeals of Police Officers, whose mandate expires on that very day for the current convocation. If the Council of Ministers of BiH does not make a decision, all appeals from police officers will be on hold, which could further jeopardize the functioning of three state agencies.

The agenda also includes Information on the Annual Training and Exercise Plan for members and units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad for 2026, as well as Information on the implementation of the "Defence Review" Implementation Plan and the "Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina Development and Modernization Plan 2017-2027" Action Plan, proposed by the Ministry of Defence of BiH.

The Council of Ministers of BiH should also consider issues related to the expiry of the mandate of the Director of the Public Procurement Agency of BiH, as well as the appointment of the Director of the Insurance Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the proposal of the Directorate for Economic Planning, the Council of Ministers of BiH should consider Information on the status of the Reform Agenda of Bosnia and Herzegovina, obligations towards the Western Balkans Growth Plan, and the next institutional steps of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
