Council of Ministers of BiH today on BHRT debt and carrier problems

(Patria) - The 78th session of the Council of Ministers of BiH has been scheduled for today in Sarajevo, starting at 11:00 AM. The agenda includes 39 items, with a larger number of sub-items.

The agenda does not include any laws proposed by the Council of Ministers of BiH, and the second to last item is the Information on carrier problems prepared by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH.

Let us remind you, carriers from all over BiH circled Sarajevo with about 500 trucks on April 21, demanding that the authorities get involved in solving their problems.

If the authorities do nothing, and the arrest and persecution of BiH drivers from the EU continues, the BH Logistics Consortium announces a blockade of road traffic throughout BiH.

Last week, carriers spoke with the Minister of Transport and Communications Edin Forto, but there has still been no concrete progress.

The agenda also includes Information on the debt of the Public Radio-Television Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

BHRT has been in a financial crisis for some time, and the debt to the EBU has never been paid. The debt dates back to 2007 and amounts to 17 million KM.

BHRT cannot pay this debt on its own, and after the increase in the minimum wage, BHRT's costs have significantly increased.

More than 500 BHRT employees, including numerous journalists, worked for a salary of less than 1,000 KM. However, BHRT does not have the money for other salary increases.

Also, the system for collecting RTV fees, which is done through the accounts of JP Elektroprivreda BiH, has not yet been resolved, while RTRs owes tens of millions of KM to BHRT, which is also the subject of several lawsuits.

The Constitutional Court of BiH recently made a decision according to which RTRs was not allowed to keep the collected RTV fees for itself.

The agenda also includes the Draft Agreement on a Loan (Sustainable, Integrated and Safe Road Infrastructure Project) between BiH and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with the Basis for concluding the said agreement.
