(VIDEO/FOTO) Anniversary of Markale massacre marked at the market square where a VRS shell killed 43 and wounded 84 people!

(Patria) - Today in Sarajevo, the 30th anniversary of the massacre at the Markale market was marked, in which a criminal shell fired from positions of the Army of Republika Srpska killed 43 people and seriously and lightly wounded 84.



Today's commemoration was attended by the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, delegations from several levels of government, representatives of victims' associations, family members, fellow citizens...

On that fateful day, August 28, 1995, from a mortar shell fired from the direction of Trebević, which exploded near the northern entrance to the city market, the following were killed: Omer Ajanović, Hidajet Alić, Salko Alić, Zeno Bašević, Husein Baktašević, Sevda Brkan-Kruščica, Vera Brutus-Đukić, Halida Cepić, Paša Crnčalo, Mejra Cocalić, Razija Čolić, Esad Čoranbegić, Dario Dlouhi, Salko Duraković, Alija Dževlan, Najla Fazlić, Rijad Garbo, Ibrahim Hajvaz, Meho Herceglija, Jasmina Hodžić, Hajrudin Hozo, Jusuf Hašimbegović, Adnan Ibrahimagić, Ilija Karanović, Mesudija Kerović, Vehid Komar, Muhamed Kukić, Mirsad Kovačević, Hašim Kurtović, Ismet Klarić, Masija Lončar, Osman Mahmutović, Senad Muratović, Goran Poturković, Blaženka Smoljan, Hamid Smajlhodžić, Hajro Šatrović, Samir Topuzović, Hamza Tunović, Ajdin Vukotić, Sabaheta Vukotić, Meho Zećo i Narima Žiga.

The central city market, during the siege, was one of the few locations where it was possible to obtain food. So on that August 28, 1995, Markale was a place that meant survival for many.

Today's commemoration is also attended by UN investigator Barry Hogan, who investigated the crime at Markale.
