VIDEO SFK 2000: Trophies are their passion

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, and much wider, it is hard to find a sports collective with such dominance as the women's football club „SFK 2000“ from Sarajevo. This year, for the fifteenth consecutive time, they won the BiH championship title, a result that belongs in the believe-it-or-not category. In addition to the championship trophy, as is already customary, the BiH Cup winner's trophy also found its place in the display cases. Years of dominance are the best confirmation of how a club should develop and how, through planned work, new players are successfully created, who with great success replace the more experienced ones whose careers continue outside our country. „SFK 2000“ is the best example of how generational change is carried out, Patria reports.

- We are fifteen-time consecutive champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. That sounds a bit funny, but it is a big thing, a great result. There is a lot of work and effort behind it. The goals we set for ourselves, we have achieved, and we expect to continue in the same way in the coming period - said coach Samira Hurem.

The season that is coming to an end will be especially remembered by the players of „SFK 2000“. In addition to winning everything that could be won in BiH, in the Champions League they placed among the 32 best clubs in Europe, which is the best result of club football in BiH in both competitions.

- SFK 2000 was minutes away from placement in the round of 16 of the Champions League. That is an incredible success and something unimaginable in men's football. We achieved it, we had a fantastic team that worked a lot on itself, that has been training together for a long time and working for a long time. As a coach, I knew that this Champions League would show all the effort, all the work, all the dedication that has lasted for years - said Samira Hurem.

Thanks primarily to the success of „SFK 2000“, in the last four years, women's football in BiH has experienced a great expansion. More and more little girls are showing a desire to train football, which is of invaluable importance because quality can only come from mass participation. „SFK 2000“ has become a recognizable brand whose results the social community is unable to keep up with. The BiH champions have grown into a professional team, but with modest incomes.

- I cannot say that my players earn money. Thanks to cooperation with „FK Sarajevo“, we managed to provide them with scholarships ranging from 300 to 1000 KM. These girls deserve it more than that. They have been in the club for 10 years, started as little girls, and have given themselves to creating such an „SFK 2000“ as it is, which presents its city and its country in the best way in Europe. With 20,000 KM per month, we can achieve great results in Europe, reach the round of 16 of the Champions League, which is unimaginable for men's football. From this, it is clear that these girls do not ask for much, but they need to be provided with the minimum so that they stay in football - said Samira Hurem.
