VIDEO It was May 13, 1990: The Red Star - Dinamo match marked the beginning of the war

On this day, May 13, 1990, Red Star and Dinamo played at the Maksimir stadium. This unfinished match is considered by many domestic and international media to be the beginning of the armed conflicts in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, reports the Patria news agency.

Instead of a football spectacle, visiting fans went on a rampage, after which the Bad Blue Boys broke through the fence on the northern stand of the stadium and clashed with the police because they were protecting the rampage of the Delije.

The match also became famous for the physical confrontation between Dinamo's then-captain Zvonimir Boban and police officer Refik Ahmetović.

It was a fragile story, skillfully maintained to this day. The clashes in Maksimir were artificially created to start the bloody division of the common state of Yugoslavia.

Three months later, in August 1990, Franjo Tuđman requested a meeting with Slobodan Milošević, and the latter confirmed that he wanted a meeting. They had a meeting and talks in Karađorđevo, a resort near Belgrade. After that, they met more than 50 times.

The only thing they disagreed on was Dubrovnik, which the Serbs considered their own or an independent territory of the Republic of Dubrovnik. During the negotiations, they simply and without the slightest disagreement divided Bosnia and Herzegovina. All of this had already been seen historically and coincided with the negotiations between Ante Pavelić and Milan Stojadinović.

At that time, an agreement between the Chetnik and Ustasha emigration was signed in Argentina in 1954. The basis of this agreement was the banovina division of Yugoslavia, and both Milošević and Tuđman firmly adhered to that agreement and those borders in their negotiations.
