Verstappen wins in Zandvoort, equals Vettel's record, Alonso and Gasly on podium

(Patria) - Current two-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen celebrated in front of his home crowd at Zandvoort for the third consecutive year, where the Dutch Grand Prix is held!

Fernando Alonso finished second (+3.744s), returning to the podium after four races and the Canadian Grand Prix. The Spaniard gained two positions at the start and did not relinquish the podium even after a slow eight-second pit stop. writes GP1.hr

Frenchman Pierre Gasly finished third (+7.058s), who received a five-second penalty at the start of the race but drove an excellent race, with Sergio Perez opening the path to the podium for him. Namely, the Mexican exceeded the pit lane speed limit on lap 64, earning a five-second penalty and finishing fourth (+10.068s).

Perez made a mistake on lap 63 and went off track, after which he had to pit. However, the race was stopped on lap 65 after Zhou Guanyu went off track and crashed into the barrier. The race resumed after nearly an hour.

Spaniard Carlos Sainz finished fifth (+12.541s), extracting the maximum from his Ferrari and securing another Top 5 result with a clean race. His teammate Charles Leclerc was less fortunate, retiring on lap 43 of the race. The Monegasque had floor damage and was far from the points when he stopped the car.

Lewis Hamilton finished sixth (+13.209s), who can be satisfied with the points earned in a tough race after being eliminated in Q2 during qualifying. Lando Norris finished seventh (+13.232s), dropping down the order after a rainy start to the race despite starting from the front row.

Eighth was Alexander Albon (+15.155s), who is surely delighted with new points for Williams. Oscar Piastri finished ninth (+16.580s), and the points-scoring positions were rounded out by Esteban Ocon (+18.346s).
