Velika Kladuša: Teacher Reported for Domestic Violence Applies for School Director Position

BIHAĆ, (Patria) - We have instructed the relevant ministry to immediately form a new working body and task it with adopting a program of urgent short-term and long-term measures in order to bring the education sector within the framework of the law and pedagogical standards. We will receive the measures within eight days.

This was stated by the Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ružnić, following the alarming situation in the education system of that canton.

The Cantonal Budget Inspection, upon the order of the Government, conducted audits in the Ministry of Education of USK, as well as in all primary and secondary schools and kindergartens. Prime Minister Ružnić told the media that special working bodies were formed, which analyzed each school in the USK area and produced reports revealing violations of the law and pedagogical standards in schools in the USK area.

The problem could further escalate at the "First Primary School" in Velika Kladuša, if the Government approves the director's mandate for the former director of that school, because in the meantime he has been reported for domestic violence, and some parents are announcing a boycott of classes if he receives new confidence from the Government.

From the cabinet of Prime Minister Ružnić, as well as the cabinet of the relevant Minister of Education, Damir Omerdić, they did not want to speak to Patria about whether they are familiar with the biography of the former employee of the First Primary School who applied for a new mandate at the head of the school.

The First Primary School was already shaken by a scandal, after one of the teachers sent his own explicit photos via social networks, which is why the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office is investigating this case.

According to the Government's analyses, from the 2019/2020 school year, as many as 39 primary schools in USK are closing, mostly branch schools, and 229 teachers and instructors will lose their jobs.

Parents are demanding that someone from among the education workers who will lose their jobs from this school year be appointed as the director of the First Primary School.
