Great Britain announces multi-million aid for Gaza

(Patria) - The Government of Great Britain yesterday presented a humanitarian aid package worth 21 million dollars to support relief efforts in the Gaza Strip.

"The funds will provide urgent medical assistance, food and shelter for thousands of civilians, while supporting vital infrastructure projects across the occupied Palestinian territory," it was stated.

As part of this package, 2.5 million dollars will be allocated to the World Bank to assist in the reconstruction and building of key water and energy infrastructure in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Gaza.

Development Minister Anneliese Dodds said that Great Britain is using the opportunity provided by the ceasefire to increase aid deliveries and advocate for the release of all hostages, while working to establish a sustainable Palestinian state.

- The United Nations and its agencies, including UNRWA, must be allowed by Israel to carry out their vital work.

This announcement is part of Great Britain's investment in the ceasefire agreement, expanding aid operations and enabling the most vulnerable to access medical care, water, food and shelter.

We must use this opportunity to deliver a large amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza, free all hostages and enable a path towards a sustainable Palestinian state - Dodds added.

Great Britain has this fiscal year secured 41 million pounds (51 million dollars) in funding for UNRWA, supporting its operations in health, education and social services for Palestinian refugees.
