(Patria) – The British Conservative Party will announce on Tuesday the result of the vote for the position of prime minister, who will also replace Theresa May, who was at the helm of the party.
Previous polls indicate that Boris Johnson is the overwhelming favourite in the race against his only rival, Jeremy Hunt.
During the election campaign, Johnson promised to restore Britain's 'old glory' and that the country would leave the EU by October 31 'at any cost'.
The new prime minister will take office as early as Wednesday, for which there is an established protocol whereby Theresa May will go to Queen Elizabeth II and ask her to invite the new leader of the Conservative Party to form a government. The new leader will then address the nation from his new headquarters at the famous address of 10 Downing Street.
However, there is a possibility that the new prime minister will face a greater challenge than Brexit on his first day; namely, Labour has announced it will vote no confidence in the Conservative government on Thursday, which could ultimately mean early elections.
