Firefighters and locals defended houses, Konjic awaits help from Montenegro

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The past night was very dramatic at the fire sites in the municipality of Konjic.

According to Radio Konjic, the fire from Ovčari spread towards Galjevo last night, and residential buildings were also threatened, but with superhuman efforts by Konjic firefighters, and with the help of locals, they managed to break the fire line and defend the houses, Nedim Makan, professional associate in the Service for Civil Protection and Firefighting, told Radio Konjic this morning.

Today, the right flank of this fire, which is heading towards Podorašac, will be extinguished.

The situation was also difficult during the night in the area of the MZ Neretvica, locality of the village Bušćak, where the fire threatened houses, but the locals managed to defend the village.

Fires are currently active in the village of Ljuta and on Vrabč, and during the night, a fire broke out in the villages of Gornja and Donja Ljubuča.

Air tractors from Montenegro are also expected to be engaged today in extinguishing fires in the Konjic area.
