Vasvija Vidović sentenced to six months in prison for obstruction of justice

(Patria) - The Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sentenced Sarajevo lawyer Vasvija Vidović to six months in prison for obstruction of justice.

According to the verdict, Vidović, in December 2023, around 6:00 PM, after accessing the official premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) as the defense attorney for the then-suspect Ranko Debevec, aware of her unlawful actions and intending to do so, took the mobile phone he was holding.

As stated, Vidović took the phone, which served as evidence, with the aim of significantly hindering the proof of unlawful actions in the criminal proceedings against Debevec.

The trial of Vidović was reopened after the annulment of the first-instance verdict from February last year, by which she was sentenced to one year in prison for hiding the mobile phone of the suspended President of the Court of BiH, Debevec, who was arrested in December 2023 for abuse of office.

The trial of Vidović began in May 2024. The time spent in custody will be included in her prison sentence.

There is no possibility of appeal against this verdict.
