The 1st Extraordinary Congress of the Union of Social Democrats was held today in Sarajevo. Of the 201 invited delegates, 137 attended the congress from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, the USD announced, reports the BH News Agency Patria.
After exhaustive discussions and debates, delegates made a decision with 135 votes in favor and 2 abstentions to accept the Agreement on the unification of the Union of Social Democrats and SDP BiH, which was accepted by the Main Board of USD on 29.11.2014.
The Congress tasked the Presidency of USD to insist, through the representatives of USD in the Main Board and Presidency of SDP BiH, that point III of the Unification Agreement, which relates to the unification of territorial organizations of USD and SDP BiH, be implemented within two months.
By adopting the Decision on Unification, the Union of Social Democrats ceases its public activities, and the president of the Union is tasked with completing all formal-legal procedures before the competent registry of the Municipal Court after the Agreement is implemented.
Representatives of USD will henceforth, through the bodies and institutions of SDP BiH, specifically insist on further consolidation of social democratic political options in BiH.
