Extraordinary Congress of the SDP: Nikšić and Bešlagić candidates with the most support

The extraordinary congress of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where, among other things, a new president of the SDP BiH will be elected, will be held today in Sarajevo, reports the Patria news agency.

The five candidates for president of the SDP BiH are Nermin Nikšić, Selim Bešlagić, Besima Borić, Svetozar Pudarić and Mirko Pejanović. The congress will have 558 delegates and 130 guests. The biggest battle will be between Nikšić and Bešlagić. According to our sources, the Herzegovinian members of the SDP, as well as those from Sarajevo, will support Nermin Nikšić, while the Tuzla part of the SDP strongly pushes Bešlagić.

There will be 246 candidates for members of the Main Board, 21 candidates for the Supervisory Board, and 121 members of the Main Board and 11 members of the Supervisory Board will be elected. The agenda foresees that the president of the SDP BiH will address first. 

After that, a proposal for amendments to the Statute should be considered, specifically those articles related to elections within the party.
