Vahidin Musemić will remain a symbol of the fight against injustice and an example of how to love a club and a city until the last day and breath

(Patria) - A memorial service was held today in Sarajevo's City Hall for Vahidin Musemić, the legendary striker of Football Club Sarajevo, who passed away on June 30 at the age of 77.

Musemić was buried on Monday, June 3, at the City Cemetery in Košev.

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić, Mayor of Sarajevo Benjamina Karić, brother Husref, many first-team players of Sarajevo, former footballers and sports workers Fuad Muzurović, Blaž Slišković, Mirsad Fazlagić, Faruk Hadžibegić, Mehmed Janjoš, Predrag Pašić, Mirza Varešanović, Samir Bekrić, Adnan Džemidžić, and many others arrived at the City Hall to remember the legendary "Spencer from Košev".

The president of FK Sarajevo, Ismir Mirvić, addressed the attendees via video link and expressed his regret for not being able to attend the memorial service in the City Hall to pay tribute to the legend of the Maroon Club, writes Faktor.ba.

- He fought for Sarajevo his entire life, and besides his goals, he became known for his fighting spirit and bravery. He played to the limits of his abilities.

He showed courage and bravery in the war and post-war days when he worked at the club during probably the most difficult times. His love for the maroon color and the club was immense - said Mirvić.

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, said that Musemić will remain a symbol of love, defiance, and the fight against all kinds of injustice, an example of how to love a club and a city until the last day and breath.

Mirsad Fazlagić, Vahidin's teammate from Sarajevo, recalled that Musemić did not believe he could lose to anyone.

- Vahidin had two styles and ways of life. In his civilian, married life, he lived for his children, wife, and grandchildren.

In his football career, he did not believe he could lose, he did not believe anyone could be better than him. In his game and style of play, he had the idea that we had to fight, play, and win. He often came into conflict because his teammates couldn't keep up with his ideas - said Fazlagić, among other things.

Fuad Muzurović, Faruk Hadžibegić, Senad Hadžifejzović, and Dario Delibašić also addressed the memorial service. His granddaughters Iman and Lamija spoke on behalf of the family.

- We were lucky to spend a lot of time with our grandfather, who gave us immense love. We learned from him that modesty is one of the most important qualities and that family is the most important thing in life. We thank all the guests on behalf of the family for coming to pay tribute to our Vaha - they said.

Vahidin had a total of eight grandchildren.

Vahidin Musemić was born on October 29, 1946, in Janja. He started his football career at Sarajevo in 1962.

He debuted for Sarajevo in 1963. He played his first league match against Partizan at Košev in 1965. He was also a representative of Yugoslavia.
