Air raid sirens across Israel, explosions in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem

(Patria) - According to Haaretz, the Israeli military announced that air raid sirens will sound across the country and called on citizens to immediately seek shelter.

The Guardian's chief correspondent for the Middle East, Emma Graham-Harrison, reports from Tel Aviv that numerous missile interceptions are being heard in the air over the city.



Haaretz reports that more than 100 rockets have been launched from Iran, and air raid sirens have sounded across Israel.



Large clouds of smoke are rising over Tel Aviv, visible above the skyscrapers in the city center. Explosions are also echoing in Jerusalem. Iran has confirmed that it has begun its retaliation against Israel, reports state news agency IRNA.

The smoke is so dense that it completely overshadows the tall buildings around it.

It is not yet clear whether this is a consequence of rocket hits or missile interceptions.
