In addition to a general's 1,500 KM: Dreković also receives a 'paltry' 2,000 KM for advising Minister Bukvarević

A consultant position in any of the federal ministries is paid 2,000 KM per month from the budget. Every minister has the right to hire consultants in their cabinet without a tender and sign agreements with them, writes the Patria News Agency.

In the current Government of the Federation of BiH, composed of SDA and HDZ BiH, there is also a position for retired general of the Army of RBiH Ramiz Dreković. He is an advisor in the cabinet of the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Salko Bukvarević.

And just two years ago, he left the SDA, as evidenced by an interview that can be found online. And not only did he decide to withdraw from politics, but he also explained why he no longer wanted to be anyone's advisor. However, it is not bad to put 2,000 KM in your pocket monthly, in addition to a general's pension of 1,500 KM, in today's times.

You were in the SDA for a long time and recently left that political party. What is the reason?

-There was no specific reason. I decided to spend my retirement days peacefully and without political stress. It is difficult to navigate the Bosnian political waters today. I think it will remain that way.

For a part of your retired general's service, you were an advisor to high-ranking SDA officials.

-That's right, but that's also in the past. I was an advisor to the federal Prime Minister, the late Ahmet Hadžipašić, and when he left that position, I was briefly an advisor to his successor, Prime Minister Branković. All in all, a little over three years.

Did you leave before the end of Prime Minister Branković's term?

-I realized that I had not succeeded to the extent I wanted to help the veteran population. It was not possible. It is difficult to explain to people, former comrades, that you are the Prime Minister's advisor, also a general, but that you cannot help them at that moment. And that was the case. When I realized that, it was understandable for me to leave.
