Sarajevo Mayor Ivo Komšić today promoted current projects of the City of Sarajevo, which the city administration is implementing and financing with the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, the Directorate of Roads of Sarajevo Canton, and the Municipality of Novi Grad.

On this occasion, it was emphasized that 55 information boards with names have been installed at tram stops. This project is worth 27,000 KM.

Delegations also visited the works on the first bicycle path Nedžarići – Skenderija, with the possibility of extending it to Čobanija Bridge, and in the second phase, to Bentbaša.

Komšić said that the project documentation is treating bicycle traffic for the first time in the city of Sarajevo, which has a positive impact on people's health, environmental protection, energy savings, and especially on traffic, which is congested in the city of Sarajevo due to its specific geographical location.

The path has already been prepared, and workers from KJKP Rad have started paving the path, after which pigmented asphalt of brown-red color will be laid, and the curbs will be painted white. Then, vertical traffic signage will be installed. The right side is expected to be completed by the end of April. Earthworks have begun on the left side of the bicycle path, near the former Home for the Elderly. This route will go to Otoka Bridge.

As emphasized by the mayor of the Municipality of Novi Grad, Semir Efendić, this bicycle path will be built according to European standards, and the planting of 780 meters of hedges and the construction of a rest area near the Olympic pool are also planned.

The path will pass mostly through Vilsonovo šetalište in the municipality of Novo Sarajevo. The construction of a bicycle path is also expected to begin soon in the municipality of Ilidža, from the Municipality building, along Butmirska street to the roundabout on Hrasnička street.

Canton Minister Mujo Fišo emphasized that the Ministry of Transport supports all projects aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens. He announced that in three months they will implement a project of audible signaling at the four busiest intersections in Nedžarići: Ante Babića – Aleja Bosne Srebrene; Ante Babića – Adija Mulabegovića - Trg ZAVNOBiH-a; Safeta Hadžića – Ante Babića - X transferzala, and Ante Babića – Olimpijska, so that blind and visually impaired people can cross the street safely and move independently.
