Amount of Fitr Sadaqah determined for this year's Ramadan

(Patria) - The Council of Muftis of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina decided that this year the amount of Fitr Sadaqah for Ramadan will be 10, 15, and 20 KM.

Fitr Sadaqah is a religious obligation by which every free adult Muslim, male and female, who possesses surplus food after a day's sustenance is obligated during the Ramadan fast.

The amount of Fitr Sadaqah has been calculated in three categories, considering the fact that the daily menu is scarcer for some and more abundant for others.

Giving Fitr Sadaqah is tied to the head of the family and is performed according to their financial capabilities. A Muslim is obligated to give Fitr Sadaqah for themselves and their family members. The Council of Muftis also made a decision on the amount of Nisab for Ramadan, which amounts to 10,800 KM, or 5,530 euros, or 5,960 US dollars.

We also remind you of the Council of Muftis' stance that the full intentions of the Fitr Sadaqah and Zakat regulations are achieved only through institutional collection into the Bayt al-Mal Fund and their institutional distribution.
