YouTube Content Monetization to Begin Soon

Google announced the subscription music service YouTube Music Key late last year, with a test version available by invitation only, and its use will require paying $7.99 per month, reports the Patria News Agency.

However, in addition to this service, Google is also preparing a subscription for watching videos on YouTube, and according to The Verge, the start of video monetization can be expected within the next few months.

The company has not yet defined a name for the new service, and subscribers will be able to watch videos without ads, as well as save videos to mobile devices for offline viewing.

Also, YouTube channel owners will be able to offer certain content exclusively to subscribers, meaning users will only be able to watch some videos if they pay a monthly subscription, which is expected to be around ten dollars.

In addition to the classic subscription for the entire service, lower-tier subscriptions will be available for specific categories such as music, children's content, and others. Interestingly, channel owners will have to include their content in the subscription offering; if their videos are not available to subscribers, YouTube will set such videos as private. After the introduction of subscriptions, YouTube will continue to take about 45 percent of ad revenue, but will also give its partners a portion of the subscription revenue (this portion will depend on the viewing time of their content and channels).

Of course, the subscription will not be mandatory, so users will be able to enjoy videos on YouTube as before (except for the portion of content that will be reserved exclusively for subscribers), while those who want to enjoy content without ads and want to save it to their mobile devices (although it is questionable how many videos they will be able to save given the limited space on phones) will have to pay around 13-14 KM per month.
