Online trials to begin soon in cases where hearings are unavoidable and necessary

(Patria) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) informed the public that the HJPC BiH is in the process of developing an initiative for holding online trials in cases where holding a hearing is unavoidable and necessary.

"The HJPC BiH is expected to consider the adoption of an initiative for holding online trials in certain court cases this week, where holding a hearing with the direct presence of parties would pose a health risk to the participants in the proceedings.

For the implementation of online trials, in addition to technical solutions for which the HJPC BiH already has certain proposals, certain legislative interventions will be necessary, and the HJPC BiH will recommend to the competent authorities the adoption of certain lex specialis regulations that would normatively enable such a thing during the extraordinary circumstances caused by the COVID-19 virus in BiH," it was announced.
