'Another hundred new SDP members in Banja Luka soon'

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - President of SDP BiH Nermin Nikšić said that there are other political parties, as well as independent mayors and city mayors in BiH who are interested in joining the BH bloc, which currently consists of SDP and Our Party, and that this project will be tested in the upcoming local elections, and after that they will prepare for the General Elections.

"I am sure that the BH bloc, by showing principledness, will gain the trust of voters and show that we are an alternative to the national government," Nikšić said in the Dnevnik D of Federal Television on Thursday.

When asked if the BH Bloc is an alternative to the government only from the Bosniak side, Nikšić said that such things cannot be imputed to the BH bloc.

"Out of 59 elected representatives, SDP has 35 representatives of Bosniak and 24 representatives of non-Bosniak nationality," said Nikšić, reports Patria agency. He added that such principledness of the BH bloc will create prerequisites for an alternative for other parties and different policies to open up in areas dominated by SNSD and HDZ.

"Four or five days ago, we admitted 78 members from Laktaši and Banja Luka to the SDP," said Nikšić, adding that they expect another hundred new members in the next month or two.

"We have a representative in the Federal Parliament from the area of western Herzegovina. Therefore, the voice of these people will be heard through the SDP as well, not just through the HDZ," said Nikšić, announcing intensified activities in the areas of Republika Srpska and western Herzegovina.

The president of SDP said that SDP remains a democratic party, in which all its bodies will decide on the key moves of the party, as has been the case so far.

Nikšić recently received his second term as the head of SDP, while on June 22, the party's Congress will be held, where the other party bodies will also be elected.
