USK: Three out of 12 samples sent to Sarajevo are positive for COVID-19

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Twelve samples from the Una-Sana Canton were sent to Sarajevo today, to the reference laboratory, for coronavirus testing, and the results showed three positive samples, announced the Civil Protection Headquarters and the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of USK.

These are two people from Bihać and one from Velika Kladuša, confirmed the Minister of Health of USK, Dr. Nermina Ćemalović.

"Eight patients are still being treated at the Cantonal Hospital, including three people for whom we have just received confirmation that they are positive for coronavirus. The condition of all patients is stable," reported Dr. Hajrudin Havić, director of the hospital in Bihać.

Although one device exploded in the morning hours in the microbiology department of the Cantonal Hospital in Bihać, this will not endanger the hospital's operations.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries. Material damage was caused due to the explosion of an autoclave, a steam sterilizer, but the work of the Microbiology Department, despite everything, has not been interrupted," says Dr. Havić.

"In the USK area, we have registered 7 clusters to date (Bihać 5, Krupa 1, and Cazin 1) and today's three. The supervision and testing of all contacts are being carried out.
Patients who were in contact at the Clinical Center Tuzla (19) are also being monitored. They have been placed under health supervision - self-isolation, and all will be tested. So far, none have developed symptoms of the disease. The epidemiological situation is currently satisfactory according to data from the field, i.e., health centers in our Canton, as well as the current situation in the infectious disease ward at the Cantonal Hospital. However, the situation remains highly risky. The result will be a reflection of our behavior and adherence to preventive measures and depends solely on us, as a community and as individuals," informs Zarina Mulabdić, director of the Public Health Institute.

The commander of the Cantonal Civil Protection Headquarters of USK, Mustafa Ružnić, after today's briefing with the Crisis Staff of Health and the Civil Protection Headquarters in the field, thanks the citizens for their responsibility in the fight against the spread of coronavirus, and appeals to them to continue to adhere to the recommended hygiene and protection measures, as well as the recommended behavioral measures (social distancing), because only in this way can we prevent the explosive spread of the virus in the community and enable the health system to respond promptly to the treatment of severe cases.

"Save your health and the health of your children, parents, and loved ones. This is a fight that is still ongoing," says Ružnić.
