And here he is. A little after noon, a day after the "shocking" joint statement of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and Court, Nermin Nikšić appeared. From the staged congress of his own SDP, where he will, lo and behold, remain president, Nikšić commented on what was equally staged, the hearing of Milorad Dodik.
He decided to enlighten us with an analysis. He says: "He surrendered," "he appeared," "foreign media are writing"... As if international fascination with the fact that someone finally appeared before the Court, after months of insulting the same country, is proof that the system works.
No, Mr. Nikšić. That is not the triumph of the rule of law. It is its abyss.
In 2025, you, as party president and prime minister, boast that a politician, three months after undermining the constitution, threatening prosecutors, and mocking the judiciary, finally "appeared" for a hearing. And he only "appeared" after being promised behind the scenes that not a hair on his head would fall. When Milanko Kajganić secured prosecutor Vedrana Mijović and when Dodik received guarantees. Unfortunately, this time the guarantees waved by Denis Bećirović evaporated.
Dodik entered, not as a fugitive, as you called him until yesterday, but as a VIP. Through the lower gate of the BiH Court, with special permission, without a single shot of the public seeing what "facing the law" looks like.
And you add, "Foreign media are writing that he surrendered," while ignoring the domestic ones. And precisely these domestic ones, whom you most often accuse of spreading panic, had announced such a scenario in advance. And they were right.
Yes, foreign media are writing that he surrendered. Because in their countries, fugitives are arrested. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, political fugitives get coffee, security, VIP access, and an acquittal treatment.
Here, when the accused finally appears not as a repentant person, but as a protected one, half of the political scene applauds him.
And while you play the narrator, as if you were a political analyst, not someone holding the key levers of power – we know what really happened.
The judiciary has fallen to its knees. The opposition in the RS knows it has been betrayed. The BiH Court is implementing what politics has agreed upon. The verdict, according to all indications, is already being written behind closed doors.
And you? You stand aside. Quietly. Cowardly. Safely. You are not an accidental observer, Prime Minister Nikšić. You are the government.
You are co-responsible for the atmosphere in which fugitives become guests. In which the law ceases to be a rule and becomes a tool. In which the state surrenders to those who despise it.
The country is not defended by shouting "Look, he has arrived!" at a spectacle before the Court.
Because this was not a performance. This was a capitulation. And know this, we are not the audience. Nor is Dodik an actor. And you, Prime Minister Nikšić, you are not a critic. You are part of the direction.
