(Patria) - A request has been submitted to the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, Dragan Čović, to convene an urgent session of that house with an agenda item - the dismissal of the first deputy speaker, Nikola Špirić.
This was confirmed today to Radio Slobodna Evropa (RSE) by one of the five delegates of the House of Peoples who signed the request, Zlatko Miletić.
Špirić is a member of SNSD, a party that has been trying to remove the parties of the Trojka, their former coalition partners, from state government for two weeks.
Miletić states that he is convinced that there will be enough votes in the House of Peoples for Špirić's dismissal, provided that SNSD does not block the work of the house by boycotting the session.
In addition to Miletić, the request was also signed by Želimir Nešković (SDS), Nenad Vuković (PDP), Ilija Cvitanović (HDZ 1990), and Kemal Ademović (NiP).
The request deepens the government crisis in BiH, after the Trojka parties (SDP, NiP, Naša stranka) broke off the coalition agreement with SNSD, and are trying to form a new parliamentary majority with opposition parties from Republika Srpska.
The biggest obstacle to removing SNSD from state government is HDZ BiH, whose leader Dragan Čović presides over the House of Peoples.
The termination of the coalition agreement followed after SNSD representatives abstained from voting on two key "European laws" in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.
The Trojka then stated that this was a "violation of the coalition agreement" and that it was necessary to oppose "attacks on the BiH Constitution and blockades of our country's accession process to the European Union".
In the House of Representatives, the dismissal of the deputy speaker Nebojša Radovanović, also an SNSD member, was recently voted on at the request of the Trojka.
Yesterday, the Trojka also submitted a request for the dismissal of two SNSD ministers in the BiH Council of Ministers, and the attempt to remove SNSD from state government has led to a "stalemate" and blockade of state institutions.
