Despite the rain, participants of the IV Forestry Games held competitions on Bjelašnica

On Bjelašnica today, as part of the IV Forestry Games of FBiH forestry workers, which opened on Friday, competitions in several disciplines were held for about 500 participants, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

Competitions were held in football, chess, long jump, chainsaw wood processing, and sack racing.

The rain, which also fell on the Olympic beauty, did not bother the participants, and all planned activities were carried out. Medals will be awarded in the afternoon. 

Otherwise, forests are one of the most important resources that BiH has, but they are not sufficiently protected. Precisely within the framework of the Forestry Games, a scientific gathering was held on forests as the most significant natural resource of BiH.

Forests play an important role in protection against erosion, torrents, and floods, but also have a favorable impact on the water regime and water purification.

However, excessive exploitation and fires have largely contributed to the reduction of the forest fund in BiH.

On the other hand, in FBiH, the wood processing and furniture production sector records the largest exports. Currently, in the Federation of BiH, about 15,000 workers are employed in the forestry, wood processing, and furniture production sectors, writes Patria.
