MOSTAR, (Patria) - Dražen Pandža, acting director of Aluminij, said at today's press conference that the company will most likely cease operations after midnight on Friday.
"We can be sad at this moment and say that, by all accounts, we have lost this company for our children and grandchildren," said Pandža, N1 television reported.
"From Saturday 00:01, it is most likely that this company will not operate and will cease operations. All the effort we have put in in recent months has, unfortunately, not borne fruit. We did our best, we fought, and at this moment we must be open and say that after Saturday, I don't see what and how to proceed. The situation is dramatic," he stated.
In the past few years, Aluminij has been operating at a loss, and the company's total debt is almost 400 million marks, of which more than half is the debt for consumed electricity.
Naša stranka (Our Party) announced today that HDZ BiH is responsible for the situation in Aluminij, which, as criticized by Naša stranka, has been using the company as its own credit card for decades.
A group of workers blocked the main road near Mostar today in response to the situation in Aluminij.
