WARNING FROM FUCZ: Possible overflow of Neretva tributaries and the Trebižat watercourse

(Patria) - Due to forecast heavy rainfall in the coming days in the catchment area of the Adriatic Sea rivers, there is a possibility of rising water levels and local overflow from the beds of certain watercourses, especially the tributaries of the Neretva River in its middle and lower reaches, and the Trebižat watercourse, the Federal Administration of Civil Protection (FUCZ) announced.

According to data from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, the peak of the water wave is expected from February 4 to 7.

The Adriatic Sea Water Area Agency warned of the possibility of an emergency hydrological situation in the period from February 4 to 8, with a forecast rise in water levels at most hydrological stations, especially in the floodplain of the Tihaljina, Mlade, Trebižat and Neretva rivers with their tributaries. Competent institutions have been recommended to monitor the situation and act in accordance with the Federal Operational Plan for Flood Defense, while protection and rescue services are advised to exercise additional caution.

The water level of the Trebižat River at the Humac gauging station at 8 a.m. was 342 centimeters.

According to data for the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the water level of the Neretva in Glavatičevo was 98 centimeters, in Mostar 564 centimeters, and in Čapljina minus 63 centimeters. The water level of the Trebižat at the Humac station at 8 a.m. was 342 centimeters, while the following water levels were also recorded: Krupa in Draževo 192 centimeters, Bregava in Stolac 86 centimeters, Buna 197 centimeters, Jasenica 111 centimeters, and Radobolja in Mostar 79 centimeters.
