Internal Control Uncovered Corrupt Officials for Foreigners!

Acting on the order of a prosecutor from Department III of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, police officers of the Agency for Investigations and Protection - SIPA conducted an operation in the wider area of Mostar and Herzegovina, arresting several individuals and searching approximately 10 locations.  

The activities were carried out within the framework of an investigation into organized crime, abuse of office or authority, and extortion. Among the arrested individuals are officials, two high-ranking members of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs (SPS BiH). According to unofficial information, they are Josip Kvesić and Boris Kordić.  

During the investigation of the case codenamed "Pelegrino," an organized criminal group was discovered, in which several individuals abused their official positions and extorted money related to the stay and work status of foreign nationals in BiH. Six people were arrested and searches were conducted in the municipalities of Mostar, Grude, and Čapljina.

According to information obtained by the BiH news agency Patria (NAP), the arrested officials of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs had been abusing their positions for a long time, taking money from both foreigners and BiH citizens for services they should have performed anyway. As confirmed to us, the entire affair was first uncovered by the Inspectorate of Internal Control of this state agency, and the report was forwarded to the competent prosecutor's office.   

The acting prosecutor will question the suspects within the legal deadline and will then decide whether to file a request with the Court of BiH for the determination of pre-trial detention.
