Destroyed enemy tank is a symbol of mortal danger

(Patria) - The Ministry for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton has issued a statement regarding certain public reactions concerning the placement of a monument to Bosnian special forces of the "Bosna" Detachment in the park near the Second Gymnasium.

They emphasize that the monument will be placed in the middle of the park, not in the schoolyard. As they explained, the monument is planned to have a wall at the front with the engraved names, surnames, and mothers' and fathers' names of 81 fallen special forces members. In the middle, the placement of a destroyed enemy tank is planned, as a symbol of mortal danger.

“In front of and on the destroyed tank, there will be life-size bronze figures of Bosnian special forces members, as a symbol of young, brave men, defenders of Sarajevo and the homeland, who opposed the enemy army, destroyed the most dangerous weapons, and for the first time in the history of Sarajevo, prevented their entry into the city,” the Ministry stated.

As they added, this monument will preserve the memory of the "Bosna" Special Unit and carry multiple messages.

Among other things, a message of eternal gratitude to the fallen – “They were the best, and we, the surviving Bosnian special forces, bear witness to it”;

a message to the youth – “Those who do not flee have a chance to defend themselves,” and a message of peace – “Welcome in peace. If you attack us – we will destroy you.”
