(Patria) - The Plenum of the Logistics Consortium of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after a meeting held in Matuzići near Doboj, has been activated under conditions of a crisis situation in the international road transport sector.
They state that if a concrete and operational solution to the problem of professional drivers' stay in European Union countries is not reached by March 10, blockades of all border crossings in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be initiated on March 12.
They emphasize that this decision is not political but existential. They have sent their requests to the Presidency of BiH, the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the Council of Ministers of BiH, entity governments, competent ministries, the chamber system, and employers' unions.
As stated in their announcement, the period of promises is over, and they expect that, by March 10 at the latest, the aforementioned institutions will establish a moratorium on the restrictive application of residency rules for cabin crew in international road transport of goods and passengers, while defining a special status for professional drivers.
At the same time, they demand a clear and credible political response to the institutions of the European Union, with the aim of protecting domestic carriers from practices that, in application, lead to an unequal position in supply chains.
They also demand urgent internal action, which includes coordinated and operational action by all BiH institutions towards the EU, with concrete conclusions and deadlines.
They also want a temporary financial measure, which involves the introduction of a monthly subsidy ranging from 21 to 30 million KM, as a compensation mechanism for losses incurred due to operational restrictions in the EU market, until a systemic solution is found.
According to sector data, approximately 36 percent of road carriers' capacity is already blocked, which directly threatens exports, budget revenues, and jobs.
They explain that when 36 percent of capacity stops, it is not just the sector that stops, but the economy as well.
- We demand that all future meetings with institutions be organized publicly, with the presence of the media. After 14 months of waiting, only transparent dialogue can restore trust. The media have shown responsibility and understanding, and we believe that citizens have the right to hear the truth without closed doors - they emphasized.
They added that the plenum has been activated and that coordinators in all cities have initiated procedures.
- By March 10, 2026, more than a million citizens will be informed about the real situation in the sector. We are fighting for every job. We are fighting for every family and for the right to work. Protest until the demands are met remains a legitimate measure - the announcement of the Plenum of the Logistics Consortium of BiH states.
