Summer terraces removed in central Sarajevo, citizens satisfied as they can now walk normally through the city

In the streets of Štrosmajerova, Trg fra Grge Martića, Zelenih beretki and Muvekita, all summer terraces have been removed, whose owners were served decisions on the termination of the right to temporarily use public areas for the purpose of setting up summer terraces, because they did not comply with the provisions stated in the decisions and used the area beyond the established dimensions, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The deadline for the removal of summer terraces was September 15, and this morning, employees of the Service for Communal and Inspection Affairs, with the support of the competent police authorities and technical support from KJKP ”Rad”, removed only one summer terrace in Štrosmajerova Street, while the owners removed the others.

In addition, investors removed all 16 steel structures of folding-unfolding awnings on building facades and on streets, whose removal was ordered by earlier issued decisions, with a deadline of September 15.

We remind you that the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, through the Service for Communal and Inspection Affairs, last month issued decisions on the termination of the right to temporarily use public areas for the purpose of setting up summer terraces to users who did not comply with the provisions stated in the decisions and used the area beyond the established dimensions. Also, the Municipality issued decisions ordering investors to dismantle and remove the steel structure of folding-unfolding awnings on building facades and on streets and to return the areas/streets to their original condition.

Users whose decision on the use of public areas expired as of August 31 were sent a notification that they are obliged to remove the contents (catering inventory and umbrellas) from the public area and return it to its original condition.

The action of controlling the use of public areas in Stari Grad will continue in the coming period.

Numerous citizens of Sarajevo who walked through the main city promenades during the day said they were happy because they had not seen Štrosmajerova Street in this form for a long time.

- There was too much noise, and the space we could move through was too narrow to normally pass by someone coming from the opposite direction - said a resident of this street.
