Detention for Adna Mesihović and Ibrahim Obhođaš lifted, Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office appeals

(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Sarajevo has lifted the detention order for the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS Adna Mesihović and suspect Ibrahim Obhođaš, who were arrested in April on charges of abuse of office, specifically illegal employment in the Ministry, while Obhođaš is suspected of the criminal offense of receiving gifts or other benefits, i.e., mediating the appointment of the Director of the Public Institution Sarajevo Student Center. This concerns Amar Demić, whose appointment has not yet been confirmed by the KS Government, although the Management Board sent the proposal to the Government at the end of February this year.

Adna Mesihović has only been issued a measure prohibiting contact with witnesses, while Ibrahim Obhođaš has been released from detention without any measures.

The Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton has filed an appeal against this decision of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo.

On May 9, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo issued a decision extending the detention for Mesihović and Ibrahim Obhođaš for another two months. However, the detention order has since been lifted.

Both Mesihović and Obhođaš are cadres of the movement For New Generations, founded by Damir Marjanović, a current representative in the KS Assembly.

Given that Mesihović does not have a ban on performing her duties, she can return to the KS Government as early as tomorrow, considering that the KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk has not initiated her dismissal, but rather wished for her to be released from detention as soon as possible and return to her duties on May 9.
