Revoking Djokovic's visa is an act of protecting the population for the Australian Prime Minister

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of Australia, commented on the latest developments regarding Novak Djokovic, after Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke used his discretionary power and cancelled the visa of the world's best tennis player.

"I understand that after careful consideration, Djokovic's visa has been cancelled on the grounds of protecting public health and good order. Australians have made many sacrifices during this pandemic and rightly expect that the results of those sacrifices will be protected. That is what the minister is doing by taking this action today," said the Australian Prime Minister, as reported by BBC.

Djokovic has the right to appeal the decision, and there is a possibility that his lawyers will seek an expedited hearing so that the procedure is completed by Sunday, given that the Australian Open begins on Monday, January 17.

A spokesperson for the Federal Circuit Court says they are "on standby" in case of a legal challenge to the decision, but that no appeal has been filed yet.
