UK directly blamed ŠTETA and SDP for the situation in GRAS: What about the resignation of director Mujagić?

(Patria) - The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton in resignation, Nihad Uk, held a press conference on February 17, where he welcomed the decision of the director of KJKP Gras to resign. Senad Mujagić submitted his resignation in a statement to the media within GRAS on February 16, four days after the tragic tram accident in which Erdoan Morankić lost his life. However, to date, there is no information on whether the Supervisory Board of KJKP GRAS has considered this resignation. We have sent an inquiry to this company, and we will publish it later if we receive a response.

Mujagić submitted his resignation in the presence of the Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, Adnan ŠTETA, and Mujagić is also a member of SDP. When it comes to the Supervisory Board, as well as the President of the GRAS Assembly, they are also members of this party. That is why Uk's statement that he is seeking a new compulsory administration and new management structures can also be interpreted as dissatisfaction with the work of SDP.

"At the Government session in the upcoming period, I will demand that a new compulsory administration of GRAS be introduced by appointing new management structures. We will introduce urgent independent audits of business processes, including the procedure for putting vehicles into operation, and inform the public about their findings. If anyone tries to prevent these processes, I will clearly name who it is," Uk stated.

He emphasized that the new management structure must enable a full investigation and full cooperation of the Prosecutor's Office with GRAS regarding this tragedy.

"But the most important thing is that business processes within this company are finally established that will guarantee the safety of citizens so that such a tragedy never happens again," said Uk.

His statement opened numerous questions, and the demands read at the protests on Saturday, February 21, mostly concern GRAS.

Although it is no secret that GRAS was and still is in financial difficulties, the Sarajevo Canton Government, whose backbone is the Troika (SDP, NIP, Naša stranka), has been in power for seven years, and Šteta is a minister in his second term.

The reconstruction of the tram line and the procurement of new trolleybuses and trams, as well as the construction of the tram line to Hrasnica, are major projects, but now all other problems that both previous and current governments have been sweeping under the rug have surfaced. Video surveillance that was not working in the tram at the time of the accident, tram drivers without licenses, driving under the influence of narcotics or opiates, problems with electricity in the power grid, harmful marketing contracts from advertising on vehicles, questionable vehicle operability – we have learned all this in just a few days without a clear stance on how these problems will be resolved.

The Sarajevo Canton Government is in resignation, the investigation is ongoing, and the responsibility is growing. The first step is certainly full control and reconstruction of processes in KJKP GRAS. The failures that have been discovered are the responsibility of the director himself, as well as the Ministry of Transport, which pumps millions of marks from the Sarajevo Canton Budget into a company that is under the direct control of SDP. And the other partners in the Sarajevo Canton Government are clearly aware of this.
