UK and Katica: The responsibility of the entire system should be investigated, two police officers suspended

(Patria) - Prime Minister of KS Nihad Uk and Minister of Internal Affairs Admir Katica held a press conference after the KS Government session, attended by the Chief Prosecutor of the KS Prosecutor's Office Meliha Dugalija, and representatives of the MUP KS Police Administration, Amir Halilović, Head of Criminal Police, and Almedin Bahtanović, Deputy Police Commissioner.

Uk and Katica could not speak about the details of the arrest of two MUP KS Police Administration officers, so the journalists' questions about the specific case remained unanswered.

"I am truly shocked by the information we received that two police officers were deprived of their liberty. Due to the seriousness of the situation, I initiated an urgent session of the KS Government. We requested information and we received it. Some we can share, some we cannot. The system reacted very quickly in a way that the members were arrested promptly," said Uk, announcing the permanent action of the KS Government in the next 48 hours.

"We expect the KS Assembly to schedule a session as soon as possible to discuss the responsibility of all of us. If there were any oversights, everyone will be held accountable, starting with me and others," said Uk.

Minister Admir Katica announced that the Chief Prosecutor and the Police Commissioner will provide more details.

"They are the only ones who can inform the public about what is happening in this case. We are all obliged to protect minors so as not to endanger the well-being of the minors who are victims in this case," said Katica.

Katica confirmed that two police officers (Trnovo and Novo Sarajevo) have been suspended by the decision of Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević.

"We want to protect the reputation of the vast majority of our officers. I was personally shaken by this knowledge that they committed such a criminal offense. The system showed last night that it works, that the police reacted immediately upon learning of it. The police officers were immediately deprived of their liberty. This is an aggravating circumstance because you tarnish the image of honorable police officers," said the MUP Minister.

He could not speak about the details, but he said that it concerns two separate cases.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the victims have been accommodated.

"If it is determined in the next 48 hours, or a month, that the system remained silent, then we are talking about responsibility within the entire system," said Uk.

He added that he supports everything his colleagues from Naša stranka said yesterday in Tuzla, and if the responsibility of the KS Government is established, his resignation is unquestionable.
