ITA: Enhanced Controls on Cash Transfers Across Borders, $30,000 Seized from Belarusians

(Patria) - Customs officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, in cooperation with officers of the Border Police of BiH at the Deleuša border crossing between BiH and Montenegro, temporarily seized cash in the amount of 30,000 USD from two citizens of Belarus.

The money was temporarily seized upon leaving BiH because it was not declared upon entry into BiH at the Rača border crossing, when the foreign nationals entered the customs territory of BiH.

The Customs Service of the Indirect Taxation Authority will, in the coming period, carry out enhanced surveillance measures for the transfer of cash across all international border crossings. To avoid being in violation and in a situation where their money is seized, we call on all persons transferring cash in an amount greater than 20,000 KM to report it to the BiH Customs Service. In addition to cash, the obligation to declare also applies to securities, checks and the like, whose value exceeds 20,000 KM.

The declaration is submitted in writing on the "Cash Declaration Form" which contains data on:
 the submitter (name, surname, date and place of birth, nationality),
 the owner of the cash,
 the intended recipient of the cash,
 the amount and type of cash,
 the origin and purpose of the cash,
 the direction of travel, and
 the means of transport.

Any individual can fill out the "Cash Declaration Form" electronically, and submit it completed and printed to the officer at the border crossing, or fill it out at the border crossing itself:

 Filling out at the border crossing - the form can be requested and obtained from the customs service.
