ITA: Larger Amount of Undeclared Money Seized in Personal Luggage of Turkish Citizen

(Patria) - Officers of the ITA in cooperation with officers of the Border Police of BiH successfully prevented an attempt to illegally bring a larger amount of money into the country at the Sarajevo International Airport, it was announced on the ITA website.

During a routine check of passengers and luggage arriving on the Istanbul-Sarajevo flight, a Turkish citizen A.H. was inspected, who, in addition to personal luggage, had hidden money in various currencies in the amount of 50,970 euros and 5,000 US dollars, the ITA stated.

The Turkish citizen denied before the inspection that he had any goods to declare and that he had nothing except personal luggage. Appropriate proceedings will be initiated against the perpetrator of the described illegalities before the competent court.

The ITA reminds that all passengers who bring in or take out cash or securities in an amount exceeding 10,000 euros are obliged to declare them to customs officers at international border crossings.

The ITA invites all citizens to report any form of illegal trade, tax or customs evasion via the hotline 080 02 06 07.

All calls are free and completely anonymous.
