ITA and JP BH Pošta Discover Drugs in Four Shipments: Hidden in Coffee and Perfume Box

(Patria) - Authorized officials of the ITA, in cooperation with officers of JP Pošta Sarajevo, discovered 4 shipments of narcotics at the CR Pošta Sarajevo. The parcel shipments originated from EU countries and were intended for individuals in BiH.

The shipments were declared on postal customs declarations of negligible value, described as coffee, DVD, and perfume, whereby the modus operandi for avoiding customs control measures was the method of concealing narcotics in the original packaging of other goods.

Namely, a physical inspection of the shipments revealed, inside the declared items, hidden plastic bags of unknown content in coffee packages and a perfume box, which in appearance suggested narcotics. On that occasion, authorized officials of the ITA tested them with disposable narcotics test kits, detecting the presence of psychoactive substances tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and compounds of the phenylethylamine and amphetamine class.

Since the presence of psychoactive substances was discovered in these specific cases, officers of the FMUP, the Federal Police Administration, were informed of all the above, who, in accordance with their competencies and under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, seized the narcotics, namely:

1. Methamphetamine tablets - 960 pieces,
2. Methamphetamine powder - 1300 grams,
3. Methamphetamine tablets - 2000 pieces, and
4. Marijuana and hashish - 100 grams.

In addition to the aforementioned narcotics, in the shipment where hashish and marijuana were found, a set for illegal lock picking was discovered, whose packaging resembled a bank card, and it was seized together with the narcotics.
