(Patria) - Following the discovery of the body of Ismet K. (51), a businessman from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the German Bild revealed that a first arrest has been made.
Spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office, Michael Pecold, refused to comment on the case itself, citing the ongoing investigation.
According to Bild, the arrest took place on May 11; and investigators carried out the arrest operation in the Spandau district. The suspect is 40 years old, and an investigating judge issued an arrest warrant the following day. It is not yet known whether the suspect has pleaded to the charges.
As a reminder, on April 23, 2026, 51-year-old businessman Ismet K. was kidnapped in the Berlin district of Waidmannslust (Reinickendorf municipality). Unknown perpetrators forcibly dragged him into a white van that morning and drove away. Police and prosecutors have been investigating the case since then, suspecting that Ismet K. was murdered.
Last Friday, the body of the construction entrepreneur from Bosnia and Herzegovina was discovered in a wooded area near Potsdam. Personal documents and several hundred euros in cash were found next to the body.
As Bild learned from investigative sources, the analysis of data from the 51-year-old's mobile phone ultimately led to the discovery of his body. The businessman is believed to have died from severe head and neck injuries.
