(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has proposed to the Court of BiH to order detention for Mirza Kapić on charges of terrorism.
The suspect, who was deprived of liberty, is under investigation for contacting members of radical structures of the so-called “ISIL” and planning a terrorist attack on an Islamic religious facility in BiH.
Mirza Kapić was born in 1980 in Banja Luka, resides in Zenica, is a citizen of BiH, and has previously been convicted for a criminal offense related to terrorism and presence on foreign battlefields.
The activities of depriving the suspect of liberty, as well as searches of the premises he uses, were carried out in a coordinated operation of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and SIPA based on orders from the Court of BiH.
"The suspect is under investigation and is charged with having, in the past month, via electronic communication channels, mobile phone and computer, using communication applications, established contact with persons who support radical movements and structures of helpers of the so-called “ISIL”, and in correspondence expressed a desire to carry out an attack with explosives on a mosque in BiH at the end of July this year, and from these persons sought guidance for the production of an explosive device with a detonator via mobile phone, expressing the intention to attack scholars of the Islamic Community who issue proclamations against mujahideen and who report supporters of radical movements and “ISIL” to law enforcement agencies in BiH.
In the further planning and execution of the criminal offense, he was prevented by the action of SIPA and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and during the search, electronic devices used by the suspect were seized and will be subject to detailed expert examination.
The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, paragraph 1, points b) and c), i.e., the risk that, if at liberty, the suspect could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as re-offend or complete the initiated offense," the Prosecutor's Office of BiH stated.
