MOSTAR, (Patria) - Mostar's Aluminij was shut down at midnight, after being disconnected from the power grid.
Some workers welcomed the shutdown of Aluminij within the company premises.
In the past few years, Aluminij has been operating at a loss, and the company's total debt amounts to almost 400 million marks, of which more than half is debt for consumed electricity.
On Tuesday, Aluminij workers blocked the M-17 main road in Salakovac, north of Mostar, for almost five hours, and slightly earlier the southern approach to the city in protest against the collapse of the company.
Aluminij employed around 900 workers.
Slightly earlier, the Union accused the Management of poor leadership of the company, as well as high salaries of the Management members, even though Aluminij has been performing poorly for a longer time.
Workers accused that no Croatian representatives in power have addressed them, while Our Party previously accused that Aluminij was like a bank card for HDZ, which led to the collapse of this company.
The Government of FBiH has a 44 percent stake in this company, the Government of Croatia owns 12 percent, while the rest are small shareholders.
