UEFA: National championships to be decided on the pitch, next season will be delayed

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - UEFA has told national associations to finish the season on the pitch, most likely during the summer months.

From Nyon it was announced that decisions to cancel the championship would be premature.

“It is of utmost importance that the pandemic does not prevent competitions from being decided on the pitch in accordance with the rules. All clubs need to be rewarded based on the results of the entire season. We are confident that football will be able to be played in the months ahead, and any decision to cancel the championships would be premature and unjustified,” UEFA stated.

It is certain that the new season will start with a delay.

“Our working groups have already held several meetings and reached certain conclusions regarding the end of the season. They are currently making a schedule according to which championships would be played in July and August, and once they are finished, the remaining matches in European competitions would be played. We are also looking for a way to determine the start of the new season, which will begin a little later,” explained the European Football Union.
