Financial support for projects of religious communities and churches doubled

(Patria) - The City of Sarajevo has allocated 100,000 KM this year for the needs of religious communities and churches. This not only continues the city's long-standing tradition of providing financial and every other kind of support, but has also doubled the amount for projects of religious communities and churches compared to last year.

On this occasion, Mayor Abdulah Skaka signed contracts with representatives of the Islamic Community in BiH, the Catholic Church in BiH, the Serbian Orthodox Church in BiH, and the Jewish Community of BiH regarding the implementation of approved funds from the current grant in the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for 2019.

This involves a total of 21 contracts, under which the allocated funds have been distributed and awarded in accordance with the expressed needs and priorities of the religious communities and churches. Mayor Skaka thanked the representatives of the religious communities and churches for their active role in preserving and promoting the multi-ethnic values of the City of Sarajevo.

„Sarajevo has passed the civilizational test of preserving coexistence and tolerance, and your role in creating a world of mutual understanding and strengthening the centuries-old, traditional interdependence is of immeasurable importance. I hope that we will continue to have such good cooperation and friendly relations for the benefit of us all,“ said Skaka.

The Mayor emphasized that this year, the current grant of the Budget of the City of Sarajevo includes funds for programs and projects of religious communities and churches operating both in the area of Sarajevo and beyond.

„It is the obligation of Sarajevo as the capital city to support the work of such organizations throughout the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina,“ believes Mayor Abdulah Skaka.
