Association of Genocide Victims and Witnesses Files Criminal Complaint Against Damir Došen with the BiH Prosecutor's Office

(Patria) - The Association of Genocide Victims and Witnesses has filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Damir Došen from Prijedor, on suspicion of publicly denying and grossly minimizing war crimes and spreading hate speech via social networks.

The complaint states that on May 30, 2026, Došen posted a comment on the social network Facebook in which, among other things, he denied the existence of “white ribbons” in Prijedor and disputed established facts about camps and crimes committed against the non-Serb population during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Association emphasizes in the complaint that these facts were established by final verdicts of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), including the existence of the Keraterm, Omarska and Trnopolje camps, as well as systematic persecution, murders and other serious violations of international humanitarian law.

It is particularly highlighted that the reported Damir Došen was previously finally convicted before the ICTY for crimes committed in the Keraterm camp, where, according to the verdict, he had a role in enabling and tolerating violence against detainees.

The Association considers that his public statements constitute the criminal offense of public denial and minimization of war crimes, as well as incitement to national, racial and religious intolerance.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office is requested to conduct an investigation, establish the identity and responsibility of the reported person, and assess whether the elements of criminal offenses prescribed by the Criminal Code of BiH have been met.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office has not yet commented on the complaint.
