(Patria) - Threatening the overall socio-political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as continuous attacks on its stability, we are positively surprised by some activities of pro-Bosnian actors in the current government, it was announced from the Association of Generals of BiH.
"One of them is the initiation of procedures for activating the reserve component of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by the Minister of Defense of BiH, Mr. Zukan Helez. We believe this is a very good decision that contributes to the stability of both the state and the Armed Forces of BiH.
We want to inform the public that Minister Helez is exclusively implementing the legal possibility of activating the reserve, because in the Law on Defense of BiH, Article 2, Paragraph 1, it is clearly stated that the Armed Forces of BiH consist of an active and a reserve component. Therefore, the claims of certain individuals that these activities are illegal are in no way valid.
Also, in the same law, Article 16, Paragraph b, the command responsibilities of the Minister of Defense in activating the reserve forces of the Armed Forces of BiH are indicated. It is very important to clarify that the legal role of the reserve forces is to provide support to the active peacetime component, and not to raise tensions or issue threats to anyone," they state from the association.
Such activities by current officials can serve as an example and indicator that the state can be strengthened and its stability ensured through current constitutional and legal solutions, rather than just waiting for solutions "from the outside" and demonstrating institutional helplessness.
"For the aforementioned reasons, we give full support to these activities of Minister Zukan Helez, without entering into any political affiliations, and once again we urge other officials to be proactive and energetic in building and strengthening the state system and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Do not forget that the best sons and daughters shed blood for their homeland, and we have no right to allow it to be destabilized and weakened by those who destroyed it," it is added in the statement of the Association of Generals of BiH.
