Association Guardians of Bosnia - Krajina Region: White Ribbon Day a reminder of the atrocities of human depravity, remembrance is an obligation!

(Patria) - Today, on White Ribbon Day, the Association Guardians of Bosnia pays tribute and remembers more than 3,000 innocent citizens of Prijedor who were killed, including 102 children — victims of war crimes - of the unadjudicated genocide from 1992, the Association Guardians of Bosnia - Krajina Region announced.

"Prijedor was the scene of an incredible and unprecedented level of hatred and human depravity, which culminated in that period through a criminal campaign of ethnic cleansing of the non-Serb population. That policy of hatred, led by the Greater Serbian political and military leadership, systematically carried out extermination, persecution and crimes against Bosniaks and Croats of Prijedor, through more than 50 camps, mass rapes, murders of children, women and men, and forced expulsions.

White Ribbon Day is a reminder of the moment when on May 31, 1992, Bosniaks and Croats of Prijedor were forced to hang white sheets on their houses, and when leaving the house to put white ribbons on their arms — in the prelude to one of the most brutal crimes in modern European history," the statement said.

Guardians of Bosnia - Krajina Region state: "Unfortunately, today, more than three decades after those crimes, the local authorities in Prijedor, led by Mayor Slobodan Javor, persistently ignore and reject every attempt by the parents of murdered children to erect a monument to innocent child victims. Such behavior is a moral and civilizational humiliation, both for the families of the victims and for the entire society."

"This day is not only a commemoration of the victims of the most serious crimes, but also a warning that the evil committed then must never be forgotten, relativized or unpunished.

The Association Guardians of Bosnia hereby calls on the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the international community and all free-thinking citizens to persist in the fight for truth, justice and dignified remembrance of the victims of Prijedor and all other killing fields of our homeland. Crimes must not be forgotten, nor forgiven without justice. Remembrance of White Ribbon Day is our obligation to the victims, future generations and Bosnia and Herzegovina," they said from the Association Guardians of Bosnia - Krajina Region!
